MCP Server

An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server is available for AI agents and coding assistants such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor. It exposes the same naming engine used by this tool, allowing agents to generate and validate Azure resource names programmatically - no screen-scraping or hand-written prompts required.

The server is hosted at:

https://mcp.azure-naming-standards.insight-services-apac.dev/mcp

It supports three tools:

• generate_resource_name - build a compliant name from workload, environment, region, and instance components, with optional segment ordering.
• validate_name - check an existing name against resource-specific character and length constraints.
• get_abbreviations - discover all valid resource types, region short codes, and environment values from the naming catalogue.
